Colonel’s Blog, Earthdate 15 April 2023…
Hey Y’all!
Happy Saturday from Air2Ground Farms! It was a cloudy but warm start to the day and sunny by mid-morning. We’re in an afternoon thunderstorm right now, which started with marble-sized hail. We’re thankful for the big barn which holds all of the vehicles. We got an early start today, milking before daylight which allowed us plenty of time to get everything set up at the Ava Farmer’s Market by 0800. The top two pics are us in front of our booth. Although the first two weeks were a bit slow, this week was amazing! We met so many new friends! We sold out of some products and a couple of times even had a line. We had quite a few folks ask about beef and we disappointedly reported we are sold out. We have a few steers on the pasture, but they aren’t big enough to process. We sold most of our ground lamb and quite a few lamb chops. We also sold quite a bit of sausage, bacon, and brats. The goose eggs were a hit again also. Although the market will not allow sales of raw milk on site, we have a few new delivery customers. Overall, a very successful day at the market. Makaylah lost her soccer game but had fun. We made it home just in time to get a call from our neighbor reporting we had another heifer out. So, we hopped to it and unrolled some hay. Our awesome neighbors were there to help us with the gate and to help get her back in the pasture. We then moved stuff around in the barn so we could get everything under cover. The hogs have been hesitant to go into the trailer to eat, so we went down and worked with them for about 15 minutes, ultimately convincing them to go in to eat. We load them tomorrow and this should make it easier. We made it back to the house about 2 minutes before the hail started. Tomorrow is the big day for working sheep. After we set up a paddock around the pens, we will make lanes to get them to the pens and then vaccinate and trim hooves. The bottom pic is the culmination of the straw-spreading party yesterday.
I made a bold claim yesterday that I believe I have more time studying nutrition than most of our general practice physicians. That was not hyperbole. Today, I decided to share many of the resources we have used to educate ourselves regarding nutrition. I am thoroughly convinced that conventional nutritional education is not only wrong but is the reason life expectancy is now declining. I encourage you to educate yourself, not just rely on the bunk we were taught while growing up. If any of these resources look at all interesting, please take a minute and have a look. I was unable to goad any comments with my inflammatory statements yesterday, but Shelley and I are both more than happy to chat. These are listed in no particular order—not an exhaustive list of everything we have studied, but a good start. Here goes:

Thanks for sharing. A good book I just read about sugar was Pure White and Deadly by John Yudkin. Gary Taubes‘ books have also been great resources.
Have you read Grain Brain by Dr. David Perlmutter? Another good source for the carb and gluten issue this country faces.
